Men's Spotlight

This week, the boys put on a show, showcasing their early season speed and endurance. The big news is the commitment of Quincy Wilson to the University of Maryland. The five-star recruit from Bullis School is one of the most sought-after talents in the 2026 class. His decision to stay in-state is a major win for the Terps, who are looking to build a national powerhouse. Look for Wilson to continue his dominant performances throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Outside of recruiting, Evan Bradshaw threw down a noteworthy 1:09.30 in the 500m at the Dominion meet. While early season, this time puts him in a strong position regionally and sets the stage for faster times later in the year. Keep an eye on Bradshaw as he continues to hone his fitness throughout the indoor season. We are excited to see if he can take down some of his personal bests as the season progresses.

Women's Spotlight

The women's side also saw some impressive performances, particularly at the Dominion meet. Zylaia Ramsey of Clover Hill High School blazed to a 7.66 in the 55m dash. This time is particularly impressive given the early point in the season and positions her as a strong contender in the event. She definitely improved her NOR/MAN rating at the Dominion meet.

Distance fans, take note of Madeline Montgomery from Monacan High School, who ran 5:31.44 in the 1600m at the same Dominion meet. While not a personal best, this is a solid early-season effort that suggests she is on track for a strong season. Considering the time of the year, this run is a good indicator that she will be running well when it matters most. Look for both Ramsey and Montgomery to continue improving as the season progresses.

Recruiting Watch

This week was dominated by the commitment of Quincy Wilson (2026) to the University of Maryland. This is a huge get for the Terps, who are looking to build a national-level program. In other recruiting news, Christian Miller (2024) is locked in to run for the University of Georgia. Miller is a top sprinter and will be a valuable addition to the Bulldogs' already strong sprint squad. We will continue to update you on all the latest commitments and recruiting news in the coming weeks.

Performances of the Week

  • Zylaia Ramsey - 55m (7.66): This performance at the Dominion meet is a standout. Clocking 7.66 early in the season is an impressive feat and positions her as a name to watch this indoor season. This run earned her 834 WA points and will significantly increase her NOR/MAN rating.
  • Evan Bradshaw - 500m (1:09.30): While early in the season, Bradshaw's 1:09.30 shows that he is in great shape, and puts him ahead of where he was at this point last year. If Bradshaw continues this trend, he could see some personal bests fall!

Tip of the Week

Focus on Process, Not Just Outcome: Early in the season, it's easy to get caught up in chasing fast times and personal bests. However, the most successful athletes focus on the process – consistent training, proper nutrition, and adequate rest. By prioritizing these elements, you'll be more likely to achieve your long-term goals. Don't get discouraged by a slow race early in the season! Use it as an opportunity to identify areas for improvement and fine-tune your training. Remember, track and field is a marathon, not a sprint (unless you're running the 100m, of course!). Good luck with your training!
